Rules & Guidelines

Blatant plagiarism will not be tolerated.

If any critiquing is done, it will be kept respectful and constructive, building one up to expand their talent, -not- crushing it. Keep in mind, this is a sanctuary not a gauntlet. That does not exclude honest critique. Simply put, this guild's goal is to nourish artistic tendencies, help potential writers reach their highest caliber, and establish a foundation of healthy confidence. [Ego popping by virtue of red pen will be used if necessary.]

Anything posted is subject to open discussion and critique unless expressed differently by the guild member.

There will be different styles, unique expressions, and diverse opinions; so please be respectful of others and you will likewise be respected. This group was created to test techniques, enrich expression, discuss common loves and rants, and expand correspondence.

WARNING: Some material may be offensive or explicit. Such posted material is in noway a reflection of the collective opinion of the members in this group. This community is not responsible for any individual's actions and will not be held accountable for such. There is a certain decorum of respect that is expected of all members to enable the freedom of speech in this community.

Please note: Advertisement is not the purpose of this community. If you feel the need to self-promote, make sure the bulk of your post is your own work, and try to make the promotion as discreet as possible (ie: dont' bold, change colors, make the text huge, etc.)

Welcome to Poétique Sanctuaire Refuge of the Arts where anyone is welcome

Introducing yourself to the community: Just say hello and get comfy. Try posting one work at a time and pace yourself for those inevitable dry spells. It is encouraged that you comment on fellow members' works, if you are shy this will help you overcome it quickly. Opinions and critiques wanted! We do ask, if your post is longer than a page, please use LJ cut. It keeps the Friend Pages less cluttered. Bans are not common practice but they are great for pent up wrath, so play nice. Random acts of evil will be admired if executed with finesse but we reserve the right to turn the tables.

Any questions, rants, comments, or suggestions, simply contact a community mod.

Common Terms

Delirium: An intriguing writing exercise done once a month by the local(Redding, CA) guild. It is not unusual to see them posted on LJ Poetry Guild, everyone is invited to participate. A topic is picked at random and the writer has a choice of either writing a poem, short story, essay, or even song(very rare) on the topic. Confused? Ask Asraixa, Kecky, or Katalyst if you have questions.
Writing or Poetic Duel: A challenge tossed out by a member to another, always open for others to participate in or comment. [Winner takes all! All of what though, we're not quite sure. O.o? ] These are always a blast and VERY fun.
Red Pen: A professional, no holds bar critique. Experienced writers appreciate these, but no matter how experienced they always sting.
